It was our first time to see Subic Bay and it was such a beautiful drive. It was so green and lush, and we passed several small and interesting looking hills and mountains. I've never been to this part of the country before. They had a nice newly-built freeway to Subic called the SCTEX and our drive had little to almost no traffic at all. We went to see the Ocean Adventure park and then took a swim in one of the resorts along the bay. Jennifer's family, Bernadette, my sister Anne, and Kenzie came with us.
At the Ocean Adventure we watched an amusing sea lion show and an impressive dolphin show. I thought it was neat how the sea lion demonstrated his strengths and features himself as it was being described by his trainer. The owners of the park built a stadium for the dolphin show which overlooks the ocean and the nearby islands, and so we were enjoying the breathtaking view before we even got to see the dolphin show. And that was great too. I can't believe how big the dolphins were and how well trained they are.
After the show we went to a beach a few minutes away to swim. The kids had their first experience of swimming in salty ocean water with fish circling around them. I had forgotten how warm the water is here. And it was amazing how the water got warmer as it got deeper. Zach learned to float for the first time, too, with the help of his floatie, of course. It was difficult to get him out of the water - he was enjoying himself too much. He even wanted to swim to the other side of the bay where a white ship was docked. He got too confident of his swimming (errr, floating) skills that he was convinced that he can reach that far within a few minutes.
