Lolo and Lola's Saturday Market

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

I found the market very interesting with all the different types of foods and products being sold in one small area ranging from international cuisine to local delicacies and other things new to us. We had lunch there and David had a lamb burger which he enjoyed immensely. We wish we had tried the Japanese waffles which I'm sure Zach would have insisted on if only he had seen that stall.

Alex and Zach had fun in the big playground which was only a few steps away. Then it started to drizzle, and David was amused to find the Filipinos gone and under cover while the foreigners and their kids continued on alone at the playground. I think this has something to do with a Filipino belief that one might catch a cold or simply get sick when rained on.

My parents' market is in Salcedo Village, Makati and it is only every Saturday morning. They have a booth there selling native woodcrafts. They have a supplier for most of their products. I know for sure that they have been enjoying this market and all the people they meet.
