Manila Bay and Discovery Science Center

We visited the Mall of Asia's Discovery Science Center and went to see Manila Bay while we were at the area. Manila Bay is totally different from how I remembered it to be. There were lots of restaurants lining the bay, street performers much like the ones I remembered in SF Bay, and a very active nightlife. We wanted to watch the fireworks (set up by the Mall of Asia every Friday and Saturday) so we had dinner in one of the restaurants outside so we can watch. This was the kids' first time to see fireworks and of course, they loved it. And best of all they had it early at 7p.m. We have been missing the 4th of July fireworks in the past because they always have it way past the kids' bedtime. And just when this year we thought the kids are finally able to stay up late, we happen to be in the Philippines for 4th of July. I'm glad the kids got to see fireworks at the bay.

The Mall of Asia was impressively huge. It is the 3rd largest mall in the world. But we were not there to shop (tempting, though). We went there to see the Discovery Science Center that is in the mall. At the science center, the kids had their first planetarium experience. But their favorite part was talking to an animated fish, which at first we thought was an impressive computer program that was able to answer common kids' questions. It was until later when the fish started to be more candid that David and I realized that there was a real person (who was very clever) behind the screen talking to Alex and Zach. David and I thought it was so funny. The kids didn't figure it out and thought it was cool.
