The kids wished it would snow where we live so they can make snowmen and snow angels and have snowball fights. That long stretch of rainy days hastened that wish to come true. Our mountains received a good amount of snowfall and we feel lucky to be only a few minutes drive up to Mt. Baldy.

The kids called this an iceberg

We felt like we traveled to a different state up there.

Zach got a lot of amusement playing "stick the snow on the tree."

Wearing shorts in the snow?! Only in California! :-)

And finally, a snowball fight!

The kids were wide-eyed once we were there. It was beautiful, and touching snow again was unbelievable to them. I don't think they remember the feeling of snow last year in New York. Alexandra had this vivid image in her mind of having a grand time making "Frosty" and a perfect snow angel and playing the most exciting snowball fight. Unfortunately, after a while of playing she (and I) realized that it wasn't that easy to make a big snowman (we also didn't bring a carrot for a nose), the snow wasn't flat and compact enough to lie down and make snow angels, and lastly, snowball fights can hit you in the face by accident. She absolutely doesn't want water in her eye.

This was our snowman. It isn't like what we had in mind, but we were content.
And, Zach had a meltdown because mommy forgot to bring his spare undies (I brought extras of everything else, except for that!) so he had to go commando for the ride home. He cried because he has not done that before and in his 4 year old mind, nobody does that ever! Poor kid. He did calm down, and they still had a good time. They'll remember the fun moments for a long time and quickly forget the mishaps. I hope.
