Alex's elementary school had an event called the Kindie 500 to end the kindergarteners' transportation week. We were to fashion a vehicle out of a box for our kindergartener. We didn't expect much of the event until David came home from walking Alex to school, and then wanted to go back with the video cam to watch the parade. It was amazing how much effort and creativity the parents put into making the vehicles. Some of them even had functioning wheels and other parts. There were tanks, taxis, a trash truck and even a motorcycle (!).

The school had prepared a car wash, relays and other activity stations spread around the campus. They even had a car repair shop which Alex had to go to for a repair of her loose windshield wipers (using tape).

It was tedious work gluing wrapping paper on the box and making it look like a car. David thought that her car was the only one with a license plate that complied with DMV regulations! :-)

How adorable!! I love the Alex Rose auto - so colorful and happy! A very clever event, even if it did mean a lot of parental involvement.
