With The Marcelinos

The Marcelinos were my next door neighbors in the apartment where I grew up in the Philippines. They witnessed me grow up with their daughter Janice, who was my constant playmate. We hadn't seen each other for almost 10 years, the last time was during my wedding in the Philippines. They had moved to the States and now to Canada and I miss them when I visit my Mother's home. Thanks to Facebook, I got to see them again, and not just Janice, but her entire family! There were happy tears at first sight. It felt surreal. Apparently, they have a relative who lives in the town next to ours and have been visiting them sometimes not knowing that we lived nearby. It's such a small world. They were in town, so we had them over for lunch and tried to catch up as much as we could. They got the chance to meet my kids, and I got to meet their little girl Chloe who happens to be the same age as Alex. And my kids hit it off with Chloe. I wish David got to see them, but unfortunately they were on their way home that afternoon.

It is amazing how people can live so far, be apart for a long time, and still be so close. It was such a heart warming and happy reunion.
