We did it, our first time to camp as a family. We went with other cub scout families to the San Diego KOA Campground. That is our tent which we comfortably slept in for 2 nights. The campground was perfect for newbie campers (not David and Alex!). The campground has a swimming pool, a playground, rental bikes, hot showers, events and activities for the kids. We bought a small stove and cooked two meals, and simply went to eat out for the rest of our meals. Not quite the real-deal-roughing-it kind of camping, but it did make us crave for the real-deal-wilderness-but-with-nice-clean-showers kind. We all came home wanting to do it again.
