
...town, that is!
We used to go to the Huntington Gardens to enjoy the Chinese New Year festivities, but this year we thought we'd go to Chinatown in Los Angeles instead. We decided to go the weekend after the festivities to avoid the crowd. This way, we were able to have a more liesurely walk around the town.
At lunch, the kids had fun eating with chopsticks and bopping to chinese dance music.



Luckily, we were still able see a lion dance. This troupe was performing for each shop in this building. Zach enjoyed the loud drums and cymbals as well as the animated lions. It's amazing how the lions always look so real even if you can see the dancers underneath them.

Each shop owner prepared a red envelope (I assume it contains cash) for the lion to get using its mouth. It wasn't so easy, especially if they were taped to the ceiling!

We went inside shops and saw plenty of colorful, pretty and unusual things. We got Alex a pair of Chinese sandals. Although the best part of the Chinatown experience if you ask the kids was this:
