Zach had a Robot-themed birthday party at home. It has been a while since we've had a party here. We had 14 of Zach's friends come over.
It should have been easy, because we were planning to have the party in the backyard with enough activites to keep the kids busy. Unfortunately, we had bad luck with the weather. Southern California had record hot temperatures that weekend. At the last minute we decided to do plan B -- have the party indoors. It meant lots of decluttering!

We set up different stations for the kids. We had a robot decorating station where the kids decorated a robot that we had previously built out of boxes and foil.

Then we had a table for the kids to create robots out of marshmallows, pretzel sticks and raw spaghetti noodles. The best part was eating their robot!

We had an area where we set out Legos to build robots, and we also brought out Zach's robot toys and wind-ups to play with.

And then we had an entertainer that cost only $25...

... (including shipping!) that we found on ebay. The kids enjoyed this hilarious interactive robot.
Instead of a cake, we had doughnuts. Zach had seen a picture of a robot made out of doughnuts while we were surfing online and of course without a doubt he wanted it over a cake. He still LOVES doughnuts!

Doesn't it look sooooo....creepy?! Though, I promise that it did look much better in real life! :-)

We did two quick games later in the afternoon (when it was probably only 105F instead of 110F!) and let everyone have the option to stay outside or go in.
Our house never looked so small with all the kids and parents! Alex and Zach had a lot of fun. We wish you were here with us to celebrate....someday, perhaps!

Ideas for the robot doughnuts, marshmallow robots and our invitations were all happily found online!
