Our Newly Turned 7 Year Old Boy

Friday, October 05, 2012

Zach turned 7 years old last week.  I can't believe it's been three years since I took this photo.  He kept those top baby teeth for almost three years.

And at last, his front tooth was loose and he sported a snaggle tooth.

But not for long.

And because the dentist found an extra front tooth (a supernumery) that grew upside-down in his gum line blocking one of his permanent front tooth from coming down, his other front baby tooth was pulled out and his supernumery tooth was taken out as well.  My 7 year old is happy and proud to look like this.

He got extra dollars for his supernumery tooth from the Tooth Fairy.   The day he got his money, he couldn't find his tooth and the Tooth Fairy usually leaves it there for him to keep.  So he came up to me and coyly asked if I could give him his tooth back, since I am the Tooth Fairy.  I didn't know that he knew, and most of all, I realized he didn't really want me to know that he knew because it could possibly mean the end of  the Tooth Fairy.  So there, he had to ask, I was cornered, I shamefully admitted it, and now we both know that we know!

So no more front baby teeth and no more kids under 7 in this house.  But the Tooth Fairy, busted as mom, still stays for Zach until he is tired of it.
