We went inside the USS Bowfin submarine.
Alex and Zach had enough patience going to musuems thanks to the audio tour for kids (and lollipops). They were enthusiastic to go to see other exhibits, as long as there were earphones.
We didn't go to the Arizona Memorial. We decided to save it for when we come back again to Hawaii.
We visited the Dole plantation and went through their giant maze, the biggest one we've been to so far. It was so big we went in circles, got too tired so we gave up, then got a map to find our way around and out.
One night we set up our mats and watched the fireworks by the shore.
The beaches were beautiful. We went to Waimanalo beach and it was stunning and inviting, but we saw a sign that warned us of the Man-of-War Jellyfish. The waves were a little too strong for the kids too. So we chickened out and stayed on shore to enjoy the view and let the kids play in the sand.
Then we found our favorite beach so far, the Lanikai beach. It was beautiful, the waves were gentle and perfect for the kids to swim in, and not touristy at all. Best of all, there were no signs of jellyfish. There was so few people and then later in the day came kayakers and parasailers and then more families. And it was still not crowded.
We drove around the Oahu island and went up to the North Shore.
We tried the local delicacies and Zach learned to use chopsticks. We all had a great time. David, who is more of a desert guy, surprisingly loved Hawaii. The kids and I loved it too.
